Ex-Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has admitted that the spinners will play a vital role for the national team during the World Cup.
While the conditions in England and Wales mostly favour fast bowlers, Mushtaq noted that the spinners will have to restrict the runs in the middle overs and take wickets.
By doing this, they will hand Pakistan the advantage.
“The role of spinners would be important and if they take a couple of wickets in the middle overs, that would help a lot to tilt the match [in Pakistan’s favour],” he was quoted as saying by Dawn.
Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
