Pakistan seamer Mohammad Asif has called for fellow pace bowler Mohammad Abbas to be included in the World Cup squad.
Abbas made his ODI debut in the first ODI against Australia in Sharjah last Friday and took figures of 1-44 off his 10 overs.
However, in the second ODI in Sharjah on Sunday, he went wicketless and conceded 38 runs from his seven overs.
Despite only taking one wicket in the two ODIs he has played, Abbas has been in exceptional form in Test cricket as he has claimed 66 wickets in 14 Tests at a superb average of 18.86.
“Abbas was always a keen learner of the game, which has helped him in performing in Test cricket,” Asif told cricketpakistan.com.pk. “He should be part of the World cup squad, as his bowling will benefit Pakistan in England.”
Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
