Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has hit back at Sarfraz Ahmed after the Pakistan captain severely criticised him.
Akhtar had said that Sarfraz should consider himself lucky that he only received a four-match ban for his racist comment towards South Africa all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo in the second ODI in Durban.
However, Sarfraz lashed out, saying: “He [Shoaib Akhtar] is not criticizing, he is attacking me personally.”
Defending himself, Akhtar insisted that he was simply voicing his thoughts after learning about what had occurred during the second ODI.
However, he did also take a dig at Sarfraz, saying the 31-year-old should learn to control himself in regards to what he speaks about and when he says it.
“I said what I saw in the [Durban incident], and I have nothing to do with his [Sarfraz] opinion over it, but the return of Sarfraz as captain is important,” Akhtar was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder. “The problem with Sarfraz is he doesn’t know what and when to speak.”
