Evin Lewis walloped a 36-ball 89 and Keemo Paul took a career-best five-wicket haul as the West Indies not only crushed Bangladesh by 50 runs, but also claimed a 2-1 series win.

Being put in to bat first, the West Indies got off to a scorching start as Lewis and Shai Hope put together a 76-run partnership in under five overs before Hope was clean bowled by Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan for 23.

Paul only made two runs, while Lewis went on to score 89, which came off 36 balls and included six boundaries and eight sixes.

The West Indies began to lose wickets at regular intervals once Lewis was dismissed, but Nicholas Pooran’s 29 proved useful as the hosts ended up being bowled out for 190.

Shakib, Mustafizur Rahman and Mahmudullah picked up three wickets apiece.

Chasing 191 to win, Bangladesh got off to a disappointing start as opener Tamim Iqbal was run out by Rovman Powell for eight runs.

Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar made up for the loss of Tamim with a 43-run partnership before Sarkar was caught by Sheldon Cottrell at long-on off the bowling of Fabian Allen for nine runs.

Paul took over from that point as he not only scythed through Bangladesh’s middle order, but also got the wicket of Liton, who scored a 25-ball 43.

Paul was the most successful bowler with five wickets, while Allen took two, and Cottrell and West Indies skipper Carlos Brathwaite claimed one wicket each.

Lewis was named Man of the Match.
