Bangladesh have called up pace bowler Abul Hasan as a replacement for left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman for the three-match Twenty20 series against Afghanistan in Dehradun.
Abul will arrive in India on Friday, which is when Bangladesh will play their only warm-up fixture.
Mustafizur was ruled out of the series with a toe injury, which he sustained while playing for the Mumbai Indians in the recently concluded edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) claimed that Mustafizur failed to reveal the extent of his injury.
Abul’s last Twenty20 International for Bangladesh came all the back at the 2012 World Twenty20. However, his last match for Bangladesh came during the ODI tri-series in January that also involved Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
The 25-year-old has failed to have much of an impact with the ball in the four Twenty20 Internationals he has played as he has taken two wickets at an average of 54. He also has an economy rate of 9.81.
Despite this, Abul impressed during last year’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) as he claimed 10 wickets at an average of 24.40.
The three-match Twenty20 series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be held on June 3, 5 and 7.
