England limited overs captain Eoin Morgan has been included in the squad for the one-off ODI against Scotland and the five-match ODI series against Australia that follows, even though he is currently nursing a fractured finger.
Morgan fractured his right ring finger while fielding at backward point during Middlesex’s Royal London One-Day Cup loss to Somerset on Sunday.
While the injury will take about a week to heal, he has been ruled out of the Hurricane Relief T20 Challenge charity match against the West Indies on Thursday at Lord’s.
Morgan was supposed to captain the ICC Rest of the World XI in the match, but former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi will now take over the leadership role.
Despite missing out on the charity match, Morgan is expected to be fit for the ODI against Scotland on June 10 in Edinburgh and the ODI series against Australia, which begins three days later at The Oval.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler and pace bowler Tom Curran have been rested for the Scotland ODI, but do feature in the squad for the series against Australia.
With Buttler being rested for the Scotland fixture, Sam Billings, who recently tasted Indian Premier League (IPL) glory with the Chennai Super Kings, has taken his place in the side.
Pace bowler Liam Plunkett has been included in both squads after he missed the ODI series against New Zealand in February to March with a hamstring injury.
