Bangladesh left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman will miss the upcoming Twenty20 series against Afghanistan due to a toe injury.

Mustafizur suffered the injury while playing for the Mumbai Indians in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL).

Since the 22-year-old will need three weeks to recover, according to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) doctor Debashish Chowdhury, the national team travelled to Dehradun without their frontline seamer on Tuesday morning.

“Mustafizur damaged his left toe during the IPL, and would not be traveling with the team,” Chowdhury told the Dhaka-based New Age newspaper as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan have also been dealt a huge blow as pace bowler Dawlat Zadran has been sidelined for the series with a knee injury. It is likely that Dawlat will be out of action for a month.

The three-match Twenty20 series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be held on June 3, 5 and 7.
