Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has refused to criticise pace bowler Hasan Ali for his actions at the Attari-Wagah border.
Sethi’s decision comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) lashed out at Hasan for disrespecting India.
Hasan walked towards a Pakistani soldier in the midst of the flag-lowering ceremony and performed his trademark celebratory move while gesturing towards Indian soldiers.
While the BCCI called on Sethi to punish Hasan for his actions, the PCB chairman chose to go down an entirely different path.
“Cricket teams always go to the Wagah Border,” he was quoted as saying by mid-day. “Fast bowlers do what they do. I do not attribute any importance to it. I do not want to discuss otherwise you will bring politics into it.”
