Pakistan left-arm seamer Wahab Riaz is expected to undergo surgery on his nose on Saturday and has thus been ruled out of the upcoming Pakistan Cup.

Wahab will need to go under the knife as his nose has been a persistent problem for him for quite some time.

Following the surgery, Wahab will need approximately two weeks to recover.

The 32-year-old was recently left out of Pakistan’s Test squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England.

Despite head coach Mickey Arthur saying that Wahab “has not won us a game in two years”, the Lahore native has vowed to fight back and regain his place in the national team.

The decision to snub Wahab did not sit well with former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja, who said: “I ask why Riaz is not picked, as he was among the most impressive bowlers in the Pakistan Super League, bowling over 150kph and reversing the ball.”
