England bowling coach Ottis Gibson could succeed Russell Domingo as South Africa’s head coach in the next few days.

Even though Gibson’s current contract with England runs until the end of the 2018 season, it is understood that Cricket South Africa and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have come to terms on a compensation package, which will enable him to be released early.

However, while it has been reported that Gibson and Cricket South Africa are still in negotiations about the details of the head coach contract, he will carry on with his bowling coach role for England’s three-Test series against the West Indies, which starts on Thursday.

Since Gibson is expected to leave prior to the limited overs portion of the series, England may need to start looking for an interim bowling coach to replace him as the one-off Twenty20 International takes place on September 16 and the five-match ODI series begins three days later.
