South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has revealed that Cricket South Africa are leaning towards appointing England bowling coach Ottis Gibson as the Proteas’ head coach.

England bowling coach Ottis Gibson is the frontrunner to take over the South Africa head coach job, but the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will reportedly ask Cricket South Africa (CSA) for compensation before they consider allowing him to leave.

With the West Indies’ last three Test series having come against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and an inexperienced New Zealand side, head coach Ottis Gibson believes “this series against India gives us an opportunity to see where we are as a Test side”.
