Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan scored 89 and 70 respectively as the Sunrisers Hyderabad eased past the Delhi Daredevils by 15 runs.

Opting to bat first, the Sunrisers got off to a poor start as captain David Warner was dismissed by Chris Morris for four runs.

Williamson and Dhawan made up for the early loss of Warner with a 136-run partnership, during which both batsmen brought up their half-centuries.

With the Sunrisers cruising and Williamson fast approaching his century, their charge was halted when Williamson was removed by Morris for 89, which came off 51 balls and included six boundaries and five sixes.

Dhawan went on to make 70 off 50 deliveries, which included seven boundaries and a six, before he became Morris’ third victim.

Morris struck again on the very next ball as he clean bowled Yuvraj Singh for three runs.

As a result of Morris’ efforts towards the end of the innings, the Sunrisers ended up finishing on 191/4 off their 20 overs.

Morris was the only bowler to take any wickets.

Chasing 192 to win, the Daredevils lost Sam Billings for 13 before Sanju Samson and Karun Nair steadied the innings with a 71-run partnership.

But, once Nair fell for 33, the Daredevils began to collapse as they lost Rishabh Pant and Samson, who made 42, in quick succession.

Shreyas Iyer and Angelo Mathews tried to keep the Daredevils in contention with a 70-run partnership, but their efforts went in vain as the Sunrisers proceeded to win the match.

Mathews ended up being dismissed for 31, while Iyer remained unbeaten on 50 off 31 balls, which included five boundaries and two sixes.

Mohammed Siraj was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Yuvraj and Siddarth Kaul claimed one wicket each.

Williamson was named Man of the Match.
