South Africa pace bowler Dale Steyn has confirmed that he is aiming to make his long-awaited return when South Africa A tour England in June.
Steyn has been out of action since November last year after he injured his shoulder and had to undergo surgery.
With the Proteas scheduled to play a Test series against England in July, Steyn feels that playing for South Africa A against the England Lions will benefit him in two major ways as it will allow him to get some much-needed match practice and get a feel for the conditions in England.
“My rehab is going well. I have done deep training for a month or so,” Steyn, who is just five wickets away from surpassing Shaun Pollock as South Africa’s highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, said. “I am running fit and planning to go on the South Africa ‘A’ trip in June.”
South Africa A will play three 50-over matches against the England Lions before going up against them in a one-off four-day game.
