Rashid Khan took three wickets and captain David Warner blasted an unbeaten 76 as the Sunrisers Hyderabad annihilated the Gujarat Lions by nine wickets.

Opting to bowl first, the Sunrisers got an early breakthrough as Lions opener Brendon McCullum was trapped lbw off the bowling of Rashid for five runs.

McCullum’s opening partner, Jason roy, managed to make a 21-ball 31 before falling to Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Rashid continued to trouble the Lions as he removed Aaron Finch and captain Suresh Raina for three and five runs respectively to leave them in trouble at 57/4.

Wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik and Dwayne Smith stemmed the bleeding with a 57-run partnership before Smith was sent packing by Kumar for 37.

The Lions were unable to recover after Smith’s departure and were subsequently restricted to 135/7 off their 20 overs.

Rashid was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Kumar snapped up two and Ashish Nehra chipped in with one.

Chasing 136 to win, the Sunrisers made a brisk start before opener Shikhar Dhawan was taken out by Praveen Kumar for nine runs.

That was to be their last taste of success though as Warner and Moises Henriques finished things off with an unbeaten 108-run partnership, during which both batsmen surpassed their fifties.
