Kedar Jadhav thumped an impressive 69 to lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a 15-run win over the Delhi Daredevils.

Coming into the match, the Royal Challengers were looking to turn their fortunes around after suffering a 35-run loss to defending champions, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, on opening night.

As for the Daredevils, they were looking to start their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign on a high.

Electing to bat first, the Royal Challengers found themselves in a spot of bother at 55/3 in the ninth over.

However, Jadhav and Stuart Binny steadied the ship with a 66-run partnership, during which Jadhav sailed past his half-century, before Binny was dismissed by Zaheer Khan for 16.

Vishnu Vinod fell shortly after, while Jadhav ended up scoring 69 off 37 balls, which included five boundaries and five sixes.

With Chris Morris taking a couple of late wickets, the Royal Challengers finished on 157/8 off their 20 overs.

Morris was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Zaheer snapped up two and Pat Cummins and Shahbaz Nadeem chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 158 to win, the Daredevils found themselves in trouble right from the get-go as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant did his best to keep his side in contention as he smashed 57 off 36 deliveries, which included three boundaries and four sixes.

However, since he received no support from his team-mates, his efforts went in vain as the Daredevils concluded their innings on 142/9.

Billy Stanlake, Iqbal Abdulla and Pawan Negi took two wickets apiece, while Yuzvendra Chahal, Tymal Mills and stand-in captain Shane Watson claimed one wicket each.

Jadhav was named Man of the Match.
