In a replay of the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) final, the Sunrisers Hyderabad came out on top once again courtesy of Yuvraj Singh and Moises Henriques.

Yuvraj and Henriques smashed 62 and 52 respectively as the Sunrisers cruised to a 35-run win and began their campaign on a high.

Opting to bowl first, the Royal Challengers Bangalore only had to wait for 10 deliveries to get their first wicket as David Warner was sent packing by Aniket Choudhary for 14.

Shikhar Dhawan and Henriques made up for the loss of Warner with a 74-run partnership before Dhawan was dismissed by Stuart Binny for 40.

Henriques and Yuvraj kept the runs flowing with a 58-run stand, during which Henriques brought up his half-century. However, he was unable to make the most of it as he was removed by Yuzvendra Chahal for 52, which came off 37 balls and included three boundaries and two sixes.

Yuvraj went on to make 62 off 27 deliveries, which included seven boundaries and three sixes, before he was clean bowled by Tymal Mills.

With Deepak Hooda and Ben Cutting scoring 16 runs apiece, the Sunrisers finished on 207/4 off their 20 overs.

Choudhary, Binny and Mills picked up one wicket apiece.

Chasing 208 to win, the Royal Challengers made a blistering start to their innings as Mandeep Singh and Chris Gayle put together a 52-run partnership before Mandeep was clean bowled by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan for 24.

Gayle ended up making 32 before he was sent packing by Hooda, but the Royal Challengers recovered through a 56-run stand between Travis Head and Kedar Jadhav.

Jadhav made 31 before being run out by Cutting, while Head scored 30 before becoming Rashid’s second victim.

Once Head was dismissed, the Royal Challengers began to collapse and went from 126/4 to being bowled out for 172.

Rashid, Ashish Nehra and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets apiece, while Hooda and Bipul Sharma claimed one wicket each.

Yuvraj was named Man of the Match.
