Australia batsman Adam Voges has said that he is “going OK” after being diagnosed with a concussion in a Sheffield Shield game in Perth on Thursday.
Voges was struck on the side of the helmet by a bouncer from Tasmania pace bowler Cameron Stevenson and was ruled out for the remainder of the match, while his availability for the third Test against South Africa is unclear.
The 37-year-old had to be helped off the field after the horrific blow and was subsequently assessed by medical personnel.
Voges returned to the WACA on Friday to see his team in action, and said: “Bit of a headache, but going OK. I just didn’t pick it up, didn’t see the ball and obviously it got me pretty well.”
The Subiaco native represented Australia in the first two Tests against South Africa, but has failed to have an impact with the bat as he has only managed to muster 30 runs at a dismal average of 7.50.
The Proteas hold an unassailable 2-0 lead going into the third Test, which will be a day-night affair, in Adelaide on November 24.
