Sydney Thunder opener Shane Watson smashed a superb 66 to help his side crush the Sydney Sixers by 46 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Opting the field first, the Sixers struggled to restrict the flow of runs as Watson went berserk, scoring 66 off 41 balls, which included seven boundaries and three sixes.
Following Watson’s dismissal, captain Michael Hussey and all-rounder Andre Russell took over as they hammered a quickfire 41 and 46 respectively to help the Thunder finish on 202/5 off their 20 overs.
Sean Abbott was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Ben Dwarshuis, Doug Bollinger and Nathan Lyon chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Chasing 203 to win, Sixers skipper Nic Maddinson led by example as he blasted a brilliant 70, which came off 40 deliveries and included four boundaries and five sixes.

However, he received little support from his team-mates as none of them were able to surpass the 20-run mark. As a result, the Sixers fell well short of their target as they were bowled out for 156.
Clint McKay, Fawad Ahmed and Chris Green took three wickets each, while Russell claimed one.
Watson was named Man of the Match.
