Heavy, persistent rain led to the second day of the second Test between India and South Africa in Bangalore being washed out.

For India, the abandonment of the second day would have been extremely frustrating as they would have been looking to push on after bowling South Africa out for 214 and putting themselves in a dominant position at 80/0 at the end of the first day.

To make things worse for India, more rain is expected in the coming days, which could provide the Proteas with an opportunity to salvage the second Test after a dismal batting performance in the first innings, where batsman AB de Villiers, who is playing in his 100th Test, was the only player to make a major contribution as he scored 85.

India ended day two on 80/0 and will hopefully resume batting tomorrow at 09:15 local time or 03:45 GMT.
