Barbados Tridents captain Kieron Pollard hammered an unbeaten 59 to not only help his side ease past the Jamaica Tallawahs by 17 runs, but also give them a two-point lead atop the standings.

Pollard was the only batsman to have an impact after he opted to bat first as the top and middle order failed to make any major contributions whatsoever.

It was thanks to Pollard’s knock of 59, which came 37 balls and included five boundaries and three sixes, that the Tridents were able to finish on 146/7 off their 20 overs.

Andre Russell and Rusty Theron picked up two wickets apiece, while Jerome Taylor and Daniel Vettori chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 147 to win, the Tallawahs got off to a horrible start as they were reduced to 36/4 in the fifth over.

However, Chadwick Walton steered them back in the right direction with his innings of 46, which came off 44 deliveries and included two boundaries and two sixes.

But, after Walton was clean bowled by Rayad Emrit, the Tallawahs’ collapse continued and they ended up falling short of their target.

Robin Peterson inflicted the most damage with three wickets, while Jason Holder snapped up two and Emrit and Ravi Rampaul claimed one wicket each.

Pollard was named Man of the Match.
