Guyana Amazon Warriors batsman Brad Hodge walloped an unbeaten 65 and pace bowler Ronsford Beaton claimed four wickets to help their side demolish the Jamaica Tallawahs by 84 runs.

Hodge and Beaton were well supported by batsman Assad Fudadin, who scored 54.

Tallawahs captain Chris Gayle would have been brooding over his decision to bowl first after the Amazon Warriors got off to an excellent start.

However, the Tallawahs got themselves back into contention with the wickets of Lendl Simmons and Fudadin, who made 54 off 43 balls, which included four boundaries and two sixes.

Even though Umar Akmal fell for 17, Hodge took over towards the end of the innings and hammered 65 off 30 deliveries, which included three boundaries and six sixes, to lead the Amazon Warriors to 179/3 off their 20 overs.

Krishmar Santokie, Jerome Taylor and Andre Russell picked up one wicket apiece.

Chasing 180 to win, the Tallawahs never got out of the starting blocks as Russell was the only batsman to surpass 20 runs.

Other than his quickfire 28, which came off 14 balls and included three boundaries and a six, the next highest scorer was Narsingh Deonarine, who made 18. As a result, it came as no surprise when the Tallawahs fell well short of their target.

Beaton was the most successful bowler with four wickets, while Sunil Narine and Marchant de Lange snapped up two wickets apiece and Veerasammy Permaul and David Wiese claimed one wicket each.

Hodge was named Man of the Match.
