Sri Lanka completely dominated Pakistan on the first day of the second Test in Colombo as off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal ripped through the tourists’ batting line-up to claim a five-wicket haul.
As a result of this, Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq would have been regretting his decision to bat first as his side initially struggled against pace bowler Dhammika Prasad, who removed Ahmed Shehzad, Azhar Ali and Younis Khan for 1, 26 and 6 respectively.
Mohammad Hafeez, who was the only batsman to make a valuable contribution with 42, was the next to go as he became Kaushal’s first victim when he was clean bowled by the 22-year-old.

Kaushal then proceeded to remove Pakistan’s entire middle order before debutant Dushmantha Chameera delivered the final blow when Pakistan were on 138 as he cleaned up Zulfiqar Babar for two runs.
Kaushal was easily the pick of the bowlers with his maiden five-wicket haul, while Prasad snapped up three and Chameera chipped in with one.
Trailing by 138, Sri Lana got off to a solid start before opener Dimuth Karunaratne was caught behind off the bowling of Junaid Khan for 28.
Kaushal Silva and Kumar Sangakkara managed to amass an unbeaten 23-run partnership before stumps was called.
Silva finished on 21 off 90 balls, which included three boundaries, while Sangakkara remained undefeated on 18 off 36 deliveries, which included one boundary.
Khan was the only bowler to take a wicket.
Sri Lanka ended day one on 70/1 and will continue batting tomorrow at 10:00 local time or 04:30 GMT.
