Australia all-rounder Shane Watson has declared himself available for the first Test against the West Indies on June 3 following the birth of his second child in Sydney.
However, Watson will not feature in the three-day warm-up match against the West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI in Antigua, which begins on Wednesday.
Watson was initially unsure whether he would be able to play the first Test, but since his child was born on May 24, he will join his team-mates in the Caribbean on Wednesday.
In addition to Watson, Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Steven Smith and David Warner will all miss the warm-up game as the team management want them to get ample rest following their stints in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
