New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has lauded spinner Daniel Vettori for becoming the first Blackcap to join the 300 ODI wickets club.

Vettori achieved the feat when he clean bowled Afghanistan batsman Narwoz Mangal on Sunday in Napier.

“He is a special cricketer and has been in all three forms for almost two decades,” McCullum said. “All credit to him, not just for his drive but his ability to bounce back from injury and his hunger to play for us.
