Dav Whatmore has been appointed as Zimbabwe’s head coach ahead of the 2015 World Cup.

Whatmore, who has coached Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan in the past, replaces Stephen Mangongo, who was sacked following Zimbabwe’s disastrous tour of Bangladesh.

It has also been announced that Whatmore and Zimbabwe Cricket will speak about a longer-term contract following the conclusion of the World Cup.

In order to ensure Zimbabwe get as much preparation as possible before the start of the World Cup, the national team will also receive coaching from Whatmore’s Dubai-based cricket academy.
