Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision”.

The incident occurred in the 34th over of the match when Sangakkara became agitated after umpire Bruce Oxenford refused to let him to take the batting powerplay.

Just two balls later, Sangakkara once again exchanged words with Oxenford which resulted in him being reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

However, despite being fined, Sangakkara scored a sensational 112 during the match and not only led his side to a 90-run win, but also gave them an unassailable 4-2 lead in the series.
