Peshawar Zalmi head coach Ottis Gibson believes Pakistan fast bowlers Ali Raza and Mohammad Basit “have a very high ceiling”.
He said both bowlers have shown great potential and possess the ability to represent Pakistan at international level.
During the Pakistan Super League (PSL) earlier this year, Raza took 10 wickets in five matches at an average of 16.80 and an economy rate of 9.78.
As for Basit, he finished with 10 wickets in six games at an average of 17.20 and an economy rate of 7.75.
“These two both have a very high ceiling and can go on to play international cricket,” Gibson was quoted as saying by journalist Saj Sadiq on X.
Basit has not played much cricket since the PSL, but Raza has remained active in domestic cricket. He featured in the National Champions Cup, a 50-over competition, where he took one wicket in three matches for Pakistan Whites at an average of 76.
The 18-year-old is now playing first-class cricket and has snapped up two wickets in two President’s Trophy Grade-I games for Ghani at an average of 86.50.
Neither him nor Basit were included in Pakistan’s squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka.
They were also left out for the ongoing ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and England.
