Ex-England cricketer Nick Knight has said no one would question Pakistan batsman Babar Azam’s talent and “ability to score runs”.
Azam has long been the backbone of Pakistan’s batting line-up, but his form has taken a hit in recent times, which has really hurt the men in green.
However, the 31-year-old, who was recently reappointed as Test captain, has shown encouraging signs of returning to his best with some promising knocks.
“No one would ever question his ability, his talent, his ability to score runs,” Knight told PakPassion.
Azam recently led Pakistan in their three-Test series against England and finished with 97 runs in two matches, which included a top score of 76, at an average of 24.25.
He subsequently made his first-class comeback after seven years, but failed to have much of an impact in the two games he played for Oil & Gas Development Company Limited in two President’s Trophy Grade-I competition as he mustered 58 runs at an average of 14.50.
Pakistan are now taking on Sri Lanka in a T20I series, but Azam was not included in the team.
He did, however, make the cut for the ongoing ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and England, where he has accumulated 118 runs in four matches at an average of 29.50.
