Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has revealed that he is seeking advice from a particular player as he looks to regain his form.
However, he declined to name the player, saying he will disclose their identity once he begins performing well again.
Rizwan recently featured in Pakistan’s three-Test series against England but was among seven players sent home midway through the tour.
In the two Tests he played, the 34-year-old from Peshawar scored 61 runs at an average of 15.25.
“My form has not been good, but I do not believe in form. I believe more in hard work, and perhaps there has been some shortcoming in my effort,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
“I am the kind of person who, if my hard work and standards are not where they should be, I remain honest with myself and with Pakistan as well.
“Professionalism should come into our players, and awareness needs to improve. As far as I am concerned, I will do everything I can to overcome my shortcomings.
“I am in touch with one player and keep speaking with him. When things become better, I will let you know which player it was.”
Rizwan is currently playing first-class cricket in Pakistan. He captained Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited in their President’s Trophy Grade-I match against Khan Research Laboratories and made scores of 64 and 27.
As he is involved in domestic cricket, Rizwan was not selected for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, which the men in green won 2-1.
He also didn’t make the cut for the ongoing ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and England.
