Peshawar Zalmi head coach Ottis Gibson has praised Pakistan left-arm spinner Sufyan Moqim, calling him “an absolute genius”.
Moqim recently played for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and took 12 wickets in six matches at an average of nine and an economy rate of six.
He then represented Pakistan at the 2026 Asian Games and claimed three wickets in the semi-final against Bangladesh before going wicketless in the loss to India in the final.
The 24-year-old was then involved in Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, but was only picked for one game, where he failed to pick up a wicket.
Gibson recognises the talent Moqim has, but urged the youngster to have more faith in himself as he is an elite cricketer.
“He just needs to believe in himself more. He’s an absolute genius. He’s a very good bowler, good control, good skills… He is a world-class performer,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel.
Moqim is now set to feature in Pakistan’s ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka and England, which will take place from October 18 to 31 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
