Former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood said Under-19 captain Farhan Yousaf is a “wonderful prospect for the future” and the men in green need middle order batsmen like him.
Yousaf has showcased his capabilities with the bat on numerous occasions, including during the Pakistan Under-19 team’s tour of England.
In the one-off youth Test, he made scores of 21 and 47 before going on to feature in the youth ODI series, where he amassed 223 runs in four matches, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 74.33.
“A wonderful prospect for the future… Pakistan needs such middle order players,” Mahmood was quoted as saying on Facebook.
Earlier this year, Yousaf represented Pakistan Greens in the National Champions Cup, a 50-over domestic competition, and made 139 runs in four games, which included a top score of 51, at an average of 34.75.
Prior to that, he was involved in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and struck 128 runs in 11 matches for the Peshawar Zalmi, which included a top score of 58 not out, at an average of 25.60 and a strike-rate of 152.38.
