Iftikhar Ahmed: “My aim is to make a comeback in the Pakistan team and win the next World Cup”

Pakistan big-hitting all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed said he is seeking a recall to the national team and wants to win the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Iftikhar last played international cricket at the 2024 T20 World Cup, while his most recent ODI came during the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup.
The 36-year-old had a solid campaign during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) earlier this year, amassing 62 runs in 10 matches for the Peshawar Zalmi at an average of 62 and a strike-rate of 172.22.
He also took 12 wickets at an average of 19.75 and an economy rate of 7.60.
“My aim is to make a comeback in the Pakistan team and win the next World Cup for Pakistan,” Iftikhar was quoted as saying by TOK Sports.
The veteran cricketer is now captaining Khan Research Laboratories in the President’s Trophy Grade-I, which is a first-class competition.
So far, he has amassed 76 runs in three games, which includes the ongoing match against Oil & Gas Development Company Limited, at an average of 25.33.
Bowling-wise, he is the joint-highest wicket-taker with 11 victims, which includes a five-wicket haul, at an average of 20.27.
