Pakistan spinner Usman Tariq has revealed that he does not own an iPhone and still drives a 1994 Toyota Corolla.

Tariq said he prefers to save the money he earns for his family, adding that he has no use for luxury items.

Instead, he wants to use the money to “fulfil my family’s wishes”, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to earn a living as a professional cricketer.

“I often tell my family that I only want to earn a good name and respect. Whatever money I earn is for you. Even today, I don’t have an iPhone, people laugh and say I should have gotten one by now. I still drive a 1994 Corolla, and I’m not really interested in buying a Haval [car] or anything like that. If there’s ever a real need, I’ll consider it,” he was quoted as saying on X.

“My priorities are to fulfil my family’s wishes, that’s the only thing I’m living for. I’ve been given the opportunity to play cricket, and I’m very happy with it.”

Tariq recently represented the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and took 10 wickets in nine matches at an average of 21.30 and an economy rate of 6.26.
