Left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir believes Pakistan will need batsman Babar Azam for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup as he is the country’s best player.
Amir acknowledged that the 31-year-old has gone through a tough time with the bat, but urged him to “take inspiration” from India superstar Virat Kohli.
Knowing what Azam is capable of doing when he is in top form, Amir wants the Lahore native firing on all cylinders when the World Cup comes around next year.
“Every player face rough patches, but Babar’s has lasted a bit longer. He should take inspiration from Virat Kohli, and return with a fresh mindset. He is still Pakistan’s best player, and the team needs him for ODI World Cup 2027,” Amir was quoted as saying on Facebook.

Azam returned for the 2nd Test at Lord’s and made scores of 8 and 6.
Pakistan are 2-0 down heading into the 3rd Test, which gets underway on September 9 in Birmingham.
