Veteran batsman Ahmed Shehzad wants to know why the Pakistan selectors are continuously ignoring big-hitting batsman Hasan Nawaz and fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jnr.
Nawaz had shown promise when he made his international debut, but a string of inconsistent performances led to him being dropped from the national team and he has not represented his country since November 2025.
As for Wasim Jnr, whose last international match came in March 2026, he has only featured sporadically during series instead of being given a consistent run in the team.
Shehzad believes that the duo deserve to be in the Pakistan team and has thus asked the selectors for the reason why they are being snubbed.
“Deserving players like Hasan Nawaz are also not picked, while Wasim Jnr has been consistently ignored,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel.
Nawaz and Wasim Jnr were not selected for Pakistan’s recent two-Test series against the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
They also aren’t part of the side for the ongoing three-Test series against England, where the men in green are 2-0 down heading into the 3rd Test in Birmingham on September 9.
Pakistan Squad for 3rd Test against England in Birmingham: Babar Azam (captain), Abdullah Fazal, Arafat Minhas, Azan Awais, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Imran, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Ghazi Ghori (wicketkeeper), Razaullah, Saad Baig (wicketkeeper) Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Saud Shakeel, Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique, Ubaid Shah
