Former Pakistan cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman said the national selectors “are nothing but a joke” as they continue to overlook young wicketkeeper-batters Rohail Nazir and Haseebullah Khan.
Both players are seen as talented prospects, but Nazir has only in three T20Is, all of which came during the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in 2023.
Haseebullah, meanwhile, has played two ODIs and three T20Is, but his opportunities have been sporadic, preventing him from getting a sustained run in the side. His last international appearance came in November 2025.
Considering the pair have shown promising signs in domestic cricket, Atiq wants to know why the selectors keep ignoring them for selection in the Pakistan team.
“What is the fault of Rohail Nazir and Haseebullah? This whole selection process and selectors are nothing but a joke,” he said on X.
The Pakistan team recently played a two-Test series against the West Indies, which concluded as a 1-1 draw.
They are now in action against England, against whom they will play three Tests.
