Pakistan selector Misbah-ul-Haq has admitted that players’ fitness standards must improve as it is currently not good enough.
The former captain noted that many cricketers get upset with him as performance standards are based on how fit players are.
Misbah is not the only one who feels the national players need to work on their fitness as many ex-cricketers have expressed the same opinion.
“Most cricketers get upset with me because I set the performance standard based on fitness. The fitness standards of national cricketers need to be raised,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X.
Pakistan recently took on the West Indies in a two-Test series in Trinidad and Tobago, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
They are now playing three Tests against England, with the 1st Test having started on August 19 in Leeds.
