Shahid Afridi has questioned where Pakistan players Hasan Nawaz, Tayyab Tahir, Sufyan Moqim, Mohammad Hasnain, Khushdil Shah, Aamer Jamal and Shahnawaz Dahani have gone.
He noted that all of them were touted as promising talents, but have since found themselves out of the side after brief stints at international level.
Of the group, only Jamal has recently returned to the national team. He featured in Pakistan’s two-Test series against the West Indies, taking two wickets in the one match he played.
“Then there were Hasan Nawaz, Tayyab Tahir, Sufyan Moqim, Mohammad Hasnain, Khushdil Shah, Aamer Jamal and Shahnawaz Dahani. Where have all these players gone? Have they expired? Have they retired? Suddenly these new youngsters who have only played eight or ten first-class matches are being labelled as Pakistan’s future,” Afridi was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
After drawing their Test series against the West Indies 1-1, Pakistan are now preparing to face England in a three-Test series from August 19 to September 13.
