Faf du Plessis said he likes Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman at number three in T20Is

Faf du Plessis: “I like the look of Fakhar at three; it feels like a positive adjustment to me. It is a role where he has found success previously, batting around the one down or number four position. He has scored runs there, so I believe it is a constructive move”

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis said he likes Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman coming in at number three as he has scored a lot of runs in that position.

He noted that the men in green should look to keep him there in T20Is as he can succeed there.

Zaman, 36, last played for Pakistan in the 2026 T20 World Cup and amassed 109 runs in three matches, which included a top score of 84, at an average of 54.50 and a strike-rate of 187.93.

“I like the look of Fakhar at three; it feels like a positive adjustment to me. It is a role where he has found success previously, batting around the one down or number four position. He has scored runs there, so I believe it is a constructive move,” Du Plessis was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

Zaman was not selected for Pakistan’s ongoing two-Test series against the West Indies, which is taking place in Trinidad and Tobago.

After this, the men in green will face England in a three-Test series from August 19 to September 13.
