South Africa spinner Tabraiz Shamsi admitted Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman is dangerous and was thus shocked to see him benched for a majority of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Zaman only played three matches in the tournament, but finished with 109 runs, which included a top score of 84, at an average of 54.50 and a strike-rate of 187.93.
Having seen what the 36-year-old from Mardan is capable of, Shamsi questioned why Pakistan didn’t utilise him more.
“I was so surprised to see Fakhar Z(aman) on the bench for most of the World Cup… From personal experience, the man is dangerous,” he said on X.
Zaman is not part of Pakistan’s squad for their ongoing two-Test series against the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, where the men in green trail 1-0 after losing the 1st Test by 90 runs.
Once their tour of the West Indies concludes, Pakistan will travel to England for a three-Test series from August 19 to September 13.
