Shoaib Akhtar: “Salman Ali Agha is not [captaincy] material. They’ve forcefully made him captain”

Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar believes Salman Ali Agha was forcefully made T20I captain.
Akhtar argued that Salman, who has recently been batting as high as number three, should not be leading the national side as he is not captaincy material.
The 32-year-old’s future as T20I skipper has come under increasing scrutiny, particularly following Pakistan’s performance at the 2026 T20 World Cup.
“Salman Ali Agha is not [captaincy] material. They’ve forcefully made him captain,” Akhtar was quoted as saying by TOK Sports.
Salman is currently featuring in Pakistan’s two-Test series against the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago.
After that, the men in green will head to England for a three-Test series from August 19 to September 13.
