Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has said that Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has not made any changes to his game and will continue getting out caught in the slips if he does not address the issue.
Azam remains one of Pakistan’s most important players and is beginning to regain his form after an extended period of subpar performances.
Given the impact the 31-year-old can have when he is at his best, Ashwin urged him to make the necessary adjustments to his game in order to eliminate his weaknesses.
“Babar Azam has not made a single change to his game,” he was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X.
Azam recently captained the Peshawar Zalmi to the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) title and finished as the highest run-scorer with 588 runs in 11 matches, which included two centuries and three fifties, at an average of 73.50 and a strike-rate of 145.90.
He then amassed 115 runs in one Test against Bangladesh, which included a top score of 68, at an average of 57.50.
Three ODIs against Australia followed and he made 125 runs, which included a top score of 69, at an average of 41.66.
With Azam having just been reappointed as Pakistan’s Test captain, he will now lead the men in green in their two-Test series against the West Indies, which will be held in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25 to August 6.
Pakistan will then take on England in a three-Test series from August 19 to September 13.
