Mohammad Amir: “You made Faheem a fielding all-rounder. You neither give him bowling nor proper batting opportunities – so why is he playing?”

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has questioned Faheem Ashraf’s role in the national team, pointing out that the all-rounder rarely gets enough opportunities with either bat or ball.
Amir remarked that Faheem is effectively being used as a fielding all-rounder, given his limited involvement in the other two departments.
Faheem has become a regular member of the squad and has chipped in with useful contributions, including a match-saving 29 not out off 11 balls against the Netherlands in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Considering how much of an impact the 32-year-old can have, Amir said he is unsure why the 32-year-old is not utilised more prominently, either higher up the batting order or with increased bowling responsibility.
“You made Faheem a fielding all-rounder. You neither give him bowling nor proper batting opportunities – so why is he playing?” he said on Geo News’ programme Haarna Mana Hai.
Pakistan recently played two Tests against Bangladesh and three ODIs against Australia, which they lost 2-0 and won 2-1 respectively.
Next up for them will be a tour of the West Indies, which will comprise two Tests in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25 to August 6.
After that, Pakistan will travel to England for three Tests from August 19 to September 13.
