Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha has backed top order batter Fakhar Zaman, labelling him as a “big tournament player” and expressing confidence in his ability to deliver at major ICC events.
Zaman has been a long-serving member of the national side and has produced several memorable performances over the years.
The 36-year-old showed he still has plenty to offer during the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) as he was the third-highest run-scorer with 401 runs in eight matches for the Lahore Qalandars, which included a century and four fifties, at an average of 57.28 and a strike-rate of 151.89.
“He is a big tournament player, and I am confident he will deliver in major events,” Salman was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Following PSL 11, Zaman did not feature in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, which the men in green lost 2-0.
He also did not take part in the three-match ODI series against Australia, which Pakistan won 2-1.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a two-Test series against the West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25 to August 6.
They will then head to England to play three Tests from August 19 to September 13.
