Pakistan left-arm pace bowler Mohammad Amir sees India opening batsman Abhishek Sharma as nothing more than a slogger.
He noted that the 25-year-old lacks proper technique as he relies heavily on aggressive strokeplay rather than playing deliveries on merit.
“From what I’ve seen, if I’m being completely honest, he looks like a slogger to me. He tries to hit every ball. If it connects, it connects, but most of the time the chances of failure are higher,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
“The way he swings the bat, there doesn’t seem to be much technique; it’s more like, ‘Just give me the ball, and I’ll swing.’ Technically, I haven’t found him very sound.”
However, Amir acknowledged that if Abhishek does catch fire, he can be a game-changer and really hurt the opposition.
“When it comes off, it really comes off, and he can hurt any team,” he said.
During India’s tour of Ireland, Abhishek made scores of 49 and 0 in the T20Is.
In regard to the ongoing T20I series against England, he has made 59, 43, 10 and 16.
As for the Pakistan team, they recently lost 2-0 to Bangladesh in a Test series before bouncing back to take down Australia 2-1 in an ODI series.
They will now travel to the West Indies to play two Tests in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25 to August 6.
Their next assignment will be a three-Test series against England, which will be held from August 19 to September 13.
