Tanvir Ahmed: “This is the player who is being treated unfairly. The wicketkeepers selected in the Pakistan team are no match for [the] tiger”

Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed believes wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is being “treated unfairly”.
Rizwan has been one of Pakistan’s most consistent performers in recent years, but has lost his place in the T20I side.
His position in the ODI setup also appears uncertain, having not been selected for the ongoing three-match series against Australia.
Tanvir argued that Rizwan remains superior to other wicketkeeping options currently being considered, including Usman Khan and Ghazi Ghori, and described the 34-year-old as a tiger.
“This is the player who is being treated unfairly. The wicketkeepers selected in the Pakistan team are no match for [the] tiger,” he said on X.
Rizwan recently captained Rawalpindiz in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and accumulated 204 runs in 10 matches at an average of 20.40 and a strike-rate of 116.57.
He then played in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh and finished with 181 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 45.25.
The men in green currently find themselves level at 1-1 in their ODI series against Australia and will look to secure a win in the deciding 3rd ODI, which takes place on June 4 in Lahore.
