Former Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur believes spinner Sufyan Moqim can become one of the best in the world.
Moqim had been a regular member of the national side before suddenly losing his place. Despite that setback, his numbers in T20Is remain impressive, having taken 27 wickets in 19 matches, including a five-wicket haul, at an average of 14.74 and an economy rate of 6.28.
The 24-year-old has also featured in four ODIs, claiming eight wickets at an average of 22.75.
He was particularly outstanding in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), finishing as the highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets in 11 matches for Peshawar Zalmi at an average of 14.40 and an economy rate of 7.20.
His strong performances earned him a deal with Derbyshire for the first half of the Vitality Blast.
“This guy is incredibly exciting and has the ability to become one of the best in the world at his skill!” Arthur, who is Derbyshire’s Head of Cricket, said on X.
Moqim did not feature in Pakistan’s recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, which they lost 2-0.
However, he returned to the squad for the ongoing three-match ODI series against Australia, but didn’t play in the first match, which the men in green won by five wickets.
The 2nd ODI will take place on June 2 in Lahore.
