Legendary Pakistan cricketer Younis Khan said there has been no one from the country who has performed as much as batsman Babar Azam.
Younis’ remarks come after Azam endured a difficult phase with the bat, during which he was even dropped from the T20I side.
The former captain added that, at 31, it is remarkable what Azam has already achieved in his career at a relatively young age.
“No one from Pakistan has performed more than Babar Azam has, at such a young age,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel.
Azam captained the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and played a key role in guiding them to the title as he was the top run-scorer with 588 runs in 11 games, which included two centuries and three fifties, at an average of 73.50 and a strike-rate of 145.90.
He then went on to feature in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, which the men in green lost 2-0.
After missing the 1st Test in Mirpur with a left knee injury, Azam returned for the 2nd Test in Sylhet and made scores of 68 and 47.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match ODI series against Australia, which will take place in Rawalpindi and Lahore from May 30 to June 4.
