Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali has taken a dig at captain Salman Ali Agha, saying he “isn’t a T20 player”.

Salman has been Pakistan’s T20I captain since March 2025 and has delivered several strong performances in the format.

However, his recent form has fallen short of expectations. During the 2026 T20 World Cup, he managed just 60 runs in seven matches at an average of 10 and a strike rate of 130.43.

He then featured in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he struggled again, scoring 112 runs in 10 games for Karachi Kings at an average of 12.44 and a strike rate of 119.14.

“Salman Ali Agha is a good player in Tests and ODIs, but he isn’t a T20 player. The selectors are overlooking this fact,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.

Salman is now representing Pakistan in their two-Test series against Bangladesh and made scores of 58 and 26 in the 1st Test in Mirpur, which the men in green lost by 104 runs.

The 2nd Test begins on May 16 in Sylhet.

Pakistan Squad for Bangladesh Test Series: Shan Masood (captain), Abdullah Fazal, Amad Butt, Azan Awais, Babar Azam, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Ghazi Ghori (wicketkeeper), Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Shah Afridi
