Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan interestingly picked Ahmed Shehzad as his idol, saying the veteran batsman is the man who “inspired me to start playing cricket”.
Farhan has been in superb form lately as he was the highest run-scorer in the 2026 T20 World Cup with 383 runs in seven games, which included two centuries and two fifties, at an average of 76.60 and a strike-rate of 160.25.
He was subsequently handed his ODI debut in a three-match series against Bangladesh, where he amassed 64 runs at an average of 21.33.
Next up was the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where his good run of form continued as he struck 380 runs in 10 matches for the Multan Sultans, which included a hundred and two half-centuries, at an average of 42.22 and a strike-rate of 166.66.
“My idol is Ahmed Shehzad, watching him inspired me to start playing cricket,” the 30-year-old from Charsadda was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X.
Pakistan are now involved in a two-Test series against Bangladesh, which Farhan wasn’t picked for.
The men in green lost the 1st Test in Mirpur by 104 runs and will look to level the series in the 2nd Test, which begins on May 16 in Sylhet.
